“Banding issues” Why? , and How to fix?
Banding issue was the most common noted fault by machine operators, in the same time can be one of the easiest to sort out, first of all let’s talk about what banding is?
Banding is a defect in inkjet printing that will appear as horizontal or vertical lines, streaks or bands in the printed output. Everyone will eventually experience some type of banding with their inkjet printer.
Why?
The print head jetting a regular pattern of ink droplets that will dry before the next set of droplets arrive.
This can go wrong if:
- The heaters are not set correctly.
- The deflected position of the print heads can same problem, (wrong print pattern).
- The calibration for feeding the material is wrong; you will see overlapping printed lines.
- The calibration of the print head settings is wrong.
- The ink is not drying correctly.
- The old and dirty media.
- The ink quality noted that sometimes affect the overlapping prints making dark or light banding.
One or more of those reasons can lead to banding issue.
Now, how to fix banding issue?
- Adjust your printer heaters according to media used, in most cases 45° is perfect to make printing dry and keep media in a good condition.
- You may need to re-adjust the print heads position in the carriage.
- Try to re calibrate the Y motor step size {STEP ALIGNMENT IN EPSON-ALIGNMENT TOOLS}. 4. Adjusting the voltage and calibration of the print head is a good option too.
- Set the printer middle heater at 45° and try again.
- In most cases changing media fixing the problem.
- Change the ink to more quality and trusted ink
